Display Suggested Tips
In your HQ Settings, you can select to display suggested tips on receipts. If you use 'Sign on Screen' for your Upserve POS and Tableside devices, suggested tips will also display on the signature screen.
- Log in to HQ
- Click Settings > Point of Sale (General Settings)
- Scroll down to Suggested Tips
- Check off "Show suggested tips to customers"
- Click in the LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH fields to enter the suggested tip percentages you would like to display
- Click Save
Turn Off Display Suggested Tip at the Terminal Level
The suggested tip will print on receipts and display on the signature screen for Upserve POS and Tableside devices. If you would like to turn off 'display suggested tip' for one or more terminals, you can turn of this setting from the Device Center.
- From the Upserve POS Home screen, tap Device Center
- Tap Print Settings > Customer Receipt Printer
- Toggle off 'Show Suggested Tips on Screen' and/or 'Print Suggested Tips on Signature Screen'
- Repeat these steps any other terminals that should have one or both of these settings turned off

Allow Custom Tip Amounts for 'Sign On Screen'
If you use '
Sign on Screen' for your Upserve POS or Tableside devices, you can allow guests to leave custom tip amounts by turning on the 'Allow Custom Amounts' setting.
- In HQ, click Settings > Point of Sale (General Settings)
- Scroll down to Signature Settings
- Make sure "Capture credit card signatures on screen" is checked off if it is not already
- Check "Allow Custom Amounts"
- Click Save
When 'Allow Custom Amounts' is turned on,
guests will be able to tap 'Custom' and enter a custom percentage or dollar tip on the signature screen..
Set Default Tip for 'Sign on Screen'
If you use '
Sign on Screen' for your Upserve POS or Tableside devices, you can highlight the default tip you would like guests to use on the signature screen by selecting a 'Set Default Tip' amount.
- In HQ, click Settings > Point of Sale (General Settings)
- Scroll down to Signature Settings
- Make sure "Capture credit card signatures on screen" is checked off if it is not already
- Click the 'Set Default Tip As' box
- Select 'Low, Medium, High' suggested tip or 'No tip'
- Click Save
On the
Signature Screen, the
'Default Tip Amount' will be highlighted. Guests can leave the default tip amount selected, choose a different tip amount or tap 'None.'
