Common Issues & Troubleshooting

My Printer Did Not Get a Valid IP or Is Still Not Connected

After completing the Epson Config, if you encounter an issue where you do not get a valid IP Address (Ex: 0.0.0.0 or 192.168.192.168) you may need to complete the process again.

You will need to factory reset the printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer
  • Locate the Factor Reset button on the bottom of the printer
User-added image
  • Use a pen in one hand to push and hold in the Factory Reset Button, while using the other hand to press and hold the printer's power button (both buttons should be pressed and held at the same time)
  • The printer will turn on and an 'Initialization Complete' slip will print out when the printer has been reset
  • Release both buttons and then repeat the Epson Config steps. (Reprint the IP slip if needed)

Update Failed Error After Hitting Send

There are two possible reasons for this to occur:

  • If you are using Networking equipment that offers the choice of 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or Dual Band (2.4 + 5), be sure to select Dual Band on your networking device. If you use Meraki provisioned by Upserve, our support team can make sure this is set up correctly.

  • If you have an SSID or Network Name with special characters ( !, #, `,) you may need to update your Network Name and remove these characters in order for the system to recognize your network.

Use a Wireless Printer as a Wired Printer

If the wireless dongle on your printer is no longer working, you can use you TM-M30 as a wired printer.

  • Remove the wireless dongle from the printer
  • Connect an Ethernet cable to the printer's ethernet port and plug the ethernet cable into your router
  • The printer will print an test slip
  • Update the IP address on the printer's page in HQ, unless the IP address did not change
  • You should now see the printer online in the Upserve POS 'Device Center.'
